Vintage Kellan

Even though no news can be considered good news, no blogging activity can be just plain boring. For now on, every time I lack a post I will share a little something small from the past...

It's a small clip, but it's so cute. It's the first time Kellan had just enough hair for her to use it in a pony tail. It doesn't look like much now, but I was sooooooooooooo excited then!

Do Rabbits Lay Eggs?

No stupid, they don't. They're mammals. Mammals have babies. I should have KNOWN that....

If this baby makes me any dumber I won't be able to function.

My Favorite Place on Earth: Happy Earth Day

Today is Earth Day. I wouldn't have remembered if a fellow blogger had not written about it. In celebration of this fine day, she posted a blog about her favorite place on Earth. As I sat down and thought about where my favorite place on Earth would be, I remembered a conversation I had had earlier this morning. I was disappointed that my spring overhaul trip to the Farm had been canceled due to "maintenance issues" (meaning workmen had not finished a project in time, which equals one UNHAPPY camper...)

The Farm is my favorite place on Earth.

Let me recap. "The Farm" is my Grandfather's second home about two and a half hours north of me. Some find it to be nothing special at all with it's green shag carpeting and it's 70's decor, but I love it. It's how my Grandmother left it. Deep down I know it gives my Grandfather a level of comfort. It gives me a little comfort too. That doesn't mean that I don't have big dreams and ideas for it the moment I walk in the door.... but ultimately there is something about this place that is peaceful and humbling to me. I have found that in all the places in the world that I've been to, sitting under the willow trees by the pond is my favorite spot to sit in.

I find that I'm at my happiest tooling around the acres of property finding projects to keep me busy, not paying attention to time or schedules. Nothing else matters...

I love that when I'm up there, no one else is. We're alone with no one else around...

And I am so happy being able to take my kids there and pass on the love and excitement that this home has given me for many years to come....

Happy Earth Day.

Such Guilt...

I went to bed feeling kind of bad that I have now posted two posts with my child running free and looking like I don't brush her hair. Honestly, I do! I swear! The kid has hair that is not tamable. Unless I insist that she sits still and lets me do something with it, all would assume I had a love child with Albert Einstein. So, in all fairness I'm going to post pictures of Kellan from Easter. She's all clean and pretty with her hair all did up. :)

"How Many Of Them There Frogs I Gotta Kiss To Get Me A Prince Around Here....."

My little disgruntled Princess, you'll find him some day....

Yesterday I decided to tackle Kellan's closet again. I HATE doing so with a passion. The kid needs her own room to convert into a walk in. She has more clothes than any one block of residence I know. On top of that, she's grows so fast that it forces me to do this unholy chore twice as much. Not only do I have to change the seasons twice a year, but I have to weed through and pack what doesn't fit like three times a year. I think I need to store the Miracle Grow up a little higher this year.

Anyway, while looking through her items and replacing everything she owns with 4T's... (mind you she just turned two in December!) I came across a bunch of dress up clothes that I had been hoarding and completely forgot about. Luckily, most fit her. At the waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back I came across this adorable little velvet Cinderella dress. Kellan loved it. She would not take it off yesterday. This morning I caught her rummaging through her dirty clothes buck naked to wear it.

The problem? I have no idea where to get another. I don't think Disney makes them anymore. If you see one, grab it. If you know where they sell them, divulge. I can't deal with wearing dirty clothes with food all over them, let alone Kellan doing so...

When Life Hands You Lemons, You Just Need To Make Some Lemonade...

The year 2009 has tested me so. I don't deal with emotional situations well, so life has decided to throw me some massive curve balls to get over it. Surprisingly, it's working. Although the last week and a half is something I chose not to discuss publicly, the lemonade I've made from the obstacles this year is something I choose to share.

My family has had a lot of emotional strain this year, with me as it's head emotional nutcase. We needed time away from ourselves. While out on a quick trip to California we decided that going to Disneyland, the self proclaimed "Happiest Place on Earth", might be a breath of fresh air for us.

We loved it. It was just what our little family needed. Kellan was in awe that Mickey Mouse himself lives. She about loaded her diaper when she spotted Minnie Mouse on Main Street. As a special little memento for our Disney lovin' angel, we bought her one of those Autograph Books and almost filled it up, making sure to take her picture with every character to add to later. Although I'd love to share every single snap shot with you all, I'm guessing that if I posted this with all 342 photos on it my computer would explode.

Boy did I not want to come home. Hearing that we got a ton of snow as your packing up your suitcase full of warm weather clothing is not cool. I just finally got a tan and I'm going back to the Artic where it will wear off and I'll just look like a giant marshmallow once again. Rock on. Send me back.
